We started building this app because people are growing up without the tools and information, they need to secure their financial futures. Many don’t know where to start and taking part feels confusing and unachievable.

With Capitalyze®, you can set up a portfolio which helps you get started with saving and investing from your mobile phone in just a couple of minutes.

Choose your investment portfolio from our expertly-selected starting options, connect a transaction account, and you’re ready to go. You can get started with just ₹100 as a one-off, Lump-sum transaction and accumulate money via round-ups and recurring deposits on a regular basis.

Your savings are added up and every time the total crosses a minimum of ₹100, your savings are debited from your bank account and automatically put into investment funds based on your chosen portfolio.

Who can sign up for a Capitalyze® account?

Capitalyze® is available for all Indian residents who are at least 18-years-old, and those who have:

o A valid Permanent Account Number (PAN) which also acts as Proof-of-identity (POI)

Similarly, people have different risk-taking appetites and the different portfolios are designed to cater to those needs. We have termed them as Conservative, Moderate and Aggressive as it gives a fair idea of the risk factor.

Capitalyze® is intended to demystify and simplify the world of investing to first time users and enable them start their journey early. Keeping that in mind we thought initially three portfolios should be great to start out with, and as we move forward on our journey, we will introduce new features and portfolios.

What is the difference in the three portfolios?

Your portfolio is set to Conservative by default. However, we get you might prefer to choose a different portfolio and you can do so at any time, as many times as you want using the migrate portfolio option. Learn more about this through the tutorial on your phone.

To access the tutorial on the device, take the following steps:

• Open Capitalyze® App
• Tap More> Settings > Tutorials
• Select the category that you want to learn more about
• Confirm the selection after you are prompted

Is there a minimum investment required to open an account?

No. Capitalyze® doesn’t require a minimum investment to open an account. To start investing, however, your Round-Ups, Recurring or Lump-sum investments must add up to at least Rupees 100.

What am I investing in?

Capitalyze® investment portfolios are composed of Mutual Funds (MFs).

Is My Money Protected?

Yes. Capitalyze® is registered with AMFI (Association of Mutual Funds in India), which means all of our customers’ investments fall under the same strict regulations for all MFs.

What’s the maximum amount I can invest at one time?

Accepted Answer

You can invest large amounts in off-the-shelf Mutual Funds daily. At Capitalyze®, though, we impose a limit of ₹2500 a day, which is in keeping with our core value of investing daily as a habit rather than huge amounts of money at one time.

Simultaneously, we are working with our partners to raise the daily investment limits but will do so only when it becomes worthwhile for you to invest in, in the future.

Why do you need to verify my phone number?

Accepted Answer

To ensure top-level security and protection from fraudsters, we first need to verify your phone number. This is a simple process, we ask for your number and send an OTP to that number as an SMS by which you can enter and verify your phone number.

Capitalyze® is a mobile-first platform so make sure:

o The phone number associated with your Capitalyze® account is also the same one linked to your bank account

o All your transactions like investments, withdrawals are associated with your registered phone number

o All future communication and verification requirements are also associated with the same number

What do I need, to verify my phone number?

Things to remember:

o You can only verify a phone number you own.

o You must be able to receive phone calls and SMSs on the phone number you are trying to verify

o You must have any call-blocking settings, apps or task killers disabled

o You must have a working internet connection through mobile data or Wi-Fi. If you’re roaming or have a bad connection, verification may not work. Try opening www.Capitalyze®.in on your phone’s internet browser to see if you are connected to the internet

How do I verify my phone number?

Accepted Answer

o Enter your phone number (Currently only residents of India can verify their numbers)

o Enter your phone number in the box on the right.

o Do not add 0 before your phone number.

o Tap Next to request a code.

o Enter the 6-digit code you receive via SMS.

If you don’t receive the 6-digit code by SMS

o Wait for the progress bar to finish and retry (It may take up to 10 minutes)

o Don’t guess the code, or you will be locked out for a period of time for security reasons

o If the timer runs out before you receive the code, an option will appear to resend the code.

o Insert code to verify your phone number for your Capitalyze® account.

Note: Depending on your carrier, you might receive charges for SMS and phone calls.

Troubleshooting steps if your number is still not verified:

o Reboot your phone (To reboot your phone: turn it off > wait for 30 seconds > turn it back on)

o Delete and reinstall the latest version of Capitalyze®

o Send a test SMS message from any phone to your own phone number exactly as you entered it in Capitalyze®, including the country code, to check if your phone is able to receive SMSs

o We can’t send your code via any other method due to security reasons

Question 19

How do I change my phone number?

Accepted Answer

The ‘Change Number’ feature allows you to change the phone number associated with your Capitalyze® account even if you’re using the same device. This feature should be used before you verify your new number.

Using the Change Number feature in Capitalyze® will:

o Migrate your account information (including your transaction information), logs and settings from your old phone number to your new phone number

o Change your old phone number associated with MFs and AMFI data, so it is reflected on all future communication or statements

Before starting the Change Number process:

o Make sure your new phone number can receive SMSs and has an active data connection

o Make sure your old phone number is currently verified in Capitalyze® on your phone

o You can see what number is verified in Capitalyze® by navigating to

Capitalyze® > More > Settings and tapping on your profile

Note: When you change your registered Capitalyze® phone number, we will inform all associated MFs, and other Agencies as required by AMFI.

To change your phone number in Capitalyze®, follow these steps:

o Insert the new SIM card with the new number into your device

o Open Capitalyze®

o Go to Capitalyze® > More options > Settings > Account > Change number

o Enter your new phone number in the box at the bottom

o Tap Verify

o You’ll be prompted to verify your new phone number

Can I use one Capitalyze® account on multiple phones, or with multiple phone numbers?

Your Capitalyze® account can only be verified with one number on one device. If you have a dual SIM phone, please note that you still must choose only one number to verify with Capitalyze®. This number should be connected with your primary banking account that you would want to link with Capitalyze®.

If you attempt to frequently switch your Capitalyze® account between different devices, at a certain point, you may be blocked from re-verifying your account. This is a security feature built-in to protect your account.

Question 21

Why is my Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA) required?

POI and POA are part of the Know Your Customer (KYC) process which is a mandatory requirement as per SEBI and AMFI guidelines laid out for investors. Once these are verified, investors can start investing without having to go through this process again, even if they are planning to do so with any other platform. What is account verification?

AMFI and SEBI require financial institutions to obey strict rules governing the verification of individuals seeking to open accounts. We ask for some of your personal information (legal first and last name, home address, PAN, etc.). In order to ensure a speedy sign-up, it’s very important that you enter this information accurately. If we have trouble verifying your information, we’ll reach out to you.

What POI and POA can I provide?

For Proof of Identity, we need you to provide Permanent Account Number (PAN) details. This is mandatory for all investors to verify. The amount you invest doesn’t change any of the requirements.

For Proof of Address you can provide any government-issued ID like AADHAR, driving license, Voter ID etc. which has your postal address on it where you’d like to receive all communication like transaction statements, etc.

Can I sign-up for a Capitalyze® account even if I don’t have a Permanent Account Number?

No. We require your PAN for compliance and legal reasons. We are working with our partners to offer a solution as we want everybody to be included in this new financial freedom movement.

Why is PAN compulsory?

Accepted Answer

Permanent Account Number is used by the Indian Revenue Services to identify and associate earnings with the account holder. For all earnings and taxation purposes, it is mandatory. Rest assured your personal information is secure. Learn more about our privacy policy and security.

Why am I required to do a video verification?

Accepted Answer

Earlier AMFI required every investor to do an In-Person Verification (IPV) to ensure all the documents provided are done so by the investor, as a part of the Know Your Customer (KYC) process. With an increase in the use of smartphones and a push towards digital India, AMFI allows investors to conduct their IPV at their own convenience, by using the camera on their smartphones to do a video verification. This part of the process is done using the CAMS/KARVY platform as they are secure and preferred by the Asset Management Companies (AMCs).

If my KYC is previously done, do I have to do it again?

No! If you have gone through the process in the past with Capitalyze® or any AMFI registered AMC, you will not have to do it again. All you have to do is provide your PAN and your account will be verified and ready for use.

Why does Capitalyze® need my e-mail address?

To ensure top-level security Capitalyze® monitors unauthorized activity and immediately notifies you. For such notifications, future communication, and account statements, we need you to register and verify your e-mail address. Learn more about our privacy policy and security.

I am already invested with other funds. Can I still open a Capitalyze® account and invest?

Yes, you can! Capitalyze® account is independent of all your other investment accounts. You won’t even have to go through the KYC process as you have already done that for your other investments. Just enter your PAN number and get started.

What do I need to link my bank account for transactions with Capitalyze®?

To Link your bank account, you will need:

o An active account with an Indian bank that supports UPI (Unified Payment Interface) and accepts e-Mandates

o The primary phone number associated with this bank account. Use the same number for your Capitalyze® account.

What is NACH?

Capitalyze® uses NACH to enable investments. NACH (National Automated Clearing House) is a national payment system developed by the NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India), and supports most major banks in India. To learn more, please refer to the NPCI website.

Why am I authorizing an e-mandate?

Accepted Answer

E-mandate allows us to make transactions with the account linked with Capitalyze®. Repeated transactions like recurring and round-up transactions can then be carried out for you without you having to manually instruct every time you need to invest.

A mandate is generated using a secure connection with your financial institution (Bank) for direct debit using NACH. This is like making any other net-banking transaction. Once the e-mandate is created you never have to provide any login or passwords or any other PIN for transactions. This direct linking of a registered transaction account ensures that your money is only transferred to and from this account.

The e-mandate is processed through a partnership with HDFC Bank, leaders in banking which has over 300 million users and operates in over 90 countries worldwide. When you enter your online banking details, HDFC communicates with your bank using the NACH platform.

All of this is done under NPCI guidelines and when doing this, HDFC and NPCI servers handle everything to further reduce risk.

The mandate details are immediately encrypted and stored by HDFC in a separate database using multi-layered hardware and software encryption. This is audited and accredited by the NPCI.

Why does it take 1-5 days approve my Capitalyze® account?

Your security is our primary concern, so we take every measure to verify that you are you! If all of your information is accurate, we typically verify and approve accounts on the same day. If there is a delay, it may be because there is missing information. Capitalyze® is subject to regulatory oversight by AMFI, the SEBI and the IRS, so even the slightest inconsistency can delay registration.

As soon as we know what additional information is needed, we send you an alert. Please check the email you provided during registration, or look for an in-app alert, and we’ll walk you through a few steps for verification.

We apologize for any inconvenience and promise to keep your security as our top concern.

When can I start investing? I have already registered.

Accepted Answer

Once your Capitalyze® account is approved, you can start investing right away at any time of the day. Please note that your investments will be shown immediately after the transaction is cleared by NACH. The actual investing will happen only in the hours when the Indian markets function.

Can I add a beneficiary to my account?

Accepted Answer

You can absolutely add a beneficiary to your account. In order to do so:

o Fill in the requested information (The form is editable, so you can type everything before you print it.)

o Print out the form

o Print and sign your name at the bottom of page two

o Double-check the form to ensure all information is accurate and complete

It will take around 7 working days to add a beneficiary to your account. You will be notified on your app and on the registered email.

Can I open an account for a minor?

At this time, Capitalyze® does not offer accounts for anyone under the age of 18. We are working with our partners to offer such services soon.

Can I Link My Business Account with Capitalyze®?

Accepted Answer

In order to comply with AMFI regulations, Capitalyze® accounts cannot be funded by a business checking account. More specifically, this is to ensure that we remain compliant with RBI’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations.

Is Capitalyze® available outside India?

At present, Capitalyze® is only available to citizens or legal residents of India who, currently reside in the country. Exceptions are made for active armed services personnel that maintain Indian addresses and are temporarily overseas.

What happens if I delete the Capitalyze® App from my device, or get a new phone?

Capitalyze® operates on cloud-based servers and your account and investments are always safe even if you delete the app or get a new phone or device. Automatic round-ups and recurring deposits will still be processed even if the Capitalyze® app is not currently installed.

How do I reopen my account?

If you’re ready to start investing again with Capitalyze®, reopening your account is easy. Just download the app from the app store and sign-up using the simple sign up process. We associate your Capitalyze® ID with your PAN and therefore, you can only have one Capitalyze® Account at any point of time.

You won’t have to do any KYC requirements as it was done the previous time. Just set-up a transaction account and once we’ve verified and approved your account, you can continue investing with Capitalyze® again.

Aggressive funds have greater exposure to risk for greater risk. Capitalyze® exists to help first-time investors get acquainted with the markets and create a habit that allows you to gradually manage your savings and subsequently invest more money.

We do not want you to be deterred by the daily fluctuation of the markets and lose out on the long-term benefits of being invested in the markets. You can be invested in Aggressive portfolio once they become used to the idea of being invested for the longer term and know what their outlook should be to achieve their targets.

How many times can I change the portfolios?

As many times as you want and whenever you want! However, know why you are doing so, as all the investments made have a longer-term outlook and will not show any significant gain in the short term even if you change the portfolio often. Know what your goals are and select your portfolio accordingly.
